Beyonce emerged in 1997 as an american singer song writer who tends to make R&B and pop music but has also made a name for herself more recently in the hip hop genre. Much like other pop music videos, this video is performance based and shows the audience a dance routine, focusing souley on the singer and her dancing and lip-syncing throughout. the use of dance routines makes the video turn into a hype as following audiences such as young girls attempt to learn the routine. Beyonce is illustrating the lyrics throughout, as there is no deep meaning to the song, it is just spoken actions shown in the footage which menas there is no need for any amplifying as there is no real message. For example "smack it in the air" is accompanied by the artist clapping her hands above her head. This appeals to her audience of young men and women as she is presenting herself as a product, and is entertaining to watch dancing. This promotes herself as a product as well as an artist as she is promoting what you may/will experience at one of her shows, good music dancing and overall a very elaborate performance which overall boosts ticket sales and continues to build up a fanbase.
